If You Take a Friend's Car to the Airport

If you take a friend's car to the airport, it will remind mom that the river is near the airport, and the river is a great place to take some pictures.


Stopping at the river will remind Katie that she needs to wear her rain boots. (I pause here to inform our non-alaskan readers that you are not truly an Alaskan unless you wear a. Carharts, b. bunny boots, c. rain boots, d. bug spray, e. a combination of the above throughout and at any time of the year, except the bug spray, of course)


Stopping at the river will also remind the kids to bring rocks to throw in the water,

rocks that, mom realizes later, were collected from the border of her flower bed.


Throwing rocks in the water will remind the kids how much fun it is to take their shoes off and splash soak their feet in the water.


Having their shoes off will remind them how good it feels to have ooey, gooey mud between their toes, and

having ooey, gooey mud between their toes

will remind them how great it feels to have ooey, gooey mud all over their legs and arms.

Once the ooey, gooey, mud is all over her arms and legs, Katie will remember that she doesn't

want ooey, gooey mud all over her and that she should have kept her rain boots on.


Seeing Katie upset, mom will remember it's time for everyone to wash up to go home.


On the way home

mom will look at all the pictures she took and be glad that she remembered that the river is near the airport and that she remembered to bring her camera, because


these pictures melt her heart like a snowcone in the Mojave.

And chances are, if her heart is melted she is going to have to blog about it.
