Pumpkin carving party at Grammy's for Pip's (Piper's) birthday with all the cousins. I love that we do it at Grammy's house so I don't have any of the mess. I take the seeds home and bake them. I love pumpkin seeds.
I have a small confession to make. In years past our pumpkins have not fulfilled the missions they were born for, to be carved up and lit up to gladden or frighten little children on Halloween, and then to be made up into pumpkin pie. Year after year, our poor Jacks (Jack-o-lanterns) get carved 2 weeks before Halloween and then put out on the back porch where they freeze, get snowed on and forgotten about until mid January when Husband hauls them to the dump with the other trash. But not this year. Even though Halloween has passed and we forgot to light them once again I am bound and determined to help them fulfill their divine destiny by lighting them for my kids tomorrow night at Family Home Evening and then making pumpkin pie out of them some time this week. (Logan is so anxious to have some pumpkin pie that I know he won't let me forget.)

After the carnival we always go to Grammy's to show off our costumes and get even more candy.

I too believe in giving the Indian treatment (using every part) to pumpkins. I love the seeds and pumpkin pie is my favorite. You already do better than we do; every year I say I want to carve pumpkins and we have once. And then we forgot to light them on halloween. Michael
